Magnificent Monoprints

from KidsActivities

Use liquid starch to make stunning silk screen affects by fingerpainting!

Supplies:

  • Liquid starch
  • Powdered paint (in flour shakers)
  • White shelf paper 9" by 12" or larger

Directions:

1. Pour a small amount of starch on the work surface; shake on color and mix with hands. Children create designs with fingers.

2. Help them press paper onto their design to make an imprint. You may do this two or three times with the same piece of paper using a different color for each addition. The result is a superimposed picture with a silk screen appearance.
